Is it Dangerous to Do a Colon Cleanse?

By Betty Howard

Why do a colon cleanse, you ask. Well, with so much junk food readily available and all the processed food we eat in this society, it starts to do a number on your body. What happens to you over time is, the toxins and carcinogens from packaged food - even though the amounts found in them are small - start to build up in you system. And the results over time, are not pretty.

How scary is that? Well, believe it or not, you can do a body detox yourself without any special supplements to lead you toward better overall health.

I believe the most important thing you can do is eat more fruits and vegetables. This is not new news to you, I'm sure. But keep in mind, fruits and vegetables are nature's natural colon cleansers.

The toxins that are found in packaged, processed food are miniscule. However, over years and years of eating these kinds of foods, these toxins end up building up in your system - particularly your colon. And as you age, this build up will be the source of potentially many problems. Eating natural foods is nature's way of helping your body rid itself of harmful gunk and sludge that becomes lodged in your colon.

Drink LOTS of water! I think most people don't even realize that they are not drinking enough water each day. Keeping your body hydrated is very important to the detoxification process, because it flushes toxic waste out of your body.

You may be like many folks who are uncertain what to expect when you start a detox program. Here are some answers for you to better your understanding of colon cleansing.

1. I've heard I'll get diarrhea when I start a colon cleansing project. Is that true? It's important to read all the directions found on the packaging of any detox plan you might buy. Yes, diarrhea could be part of the colon cleansing program, so it's vital that you know when to expect this to happen so you aren't caught somewhere you don't want to be needing to use the facilities.

2. Stay on the program. If you commit to the program you have started for cleansing your colon, you will definitely see the results you were hoping for. It takes time and each program is different, that is why you must follow the directions and make sure you stay on the program for the amount of time it specifies. Otherwise, it simply won't work.

3. How do I know which colon cleansing program to use? There are so many different detox products out there on the market and it can be confusing to know what is the right one for you. Keep in mind that if you've never done a colon cleansing program than you will probably need a product or program that is a little stronger. Read through all the materials and call the company's support to ask questions to determine what is the correct plan for you

No two people's systems are the same. Make sure you check with your doctor before starting any kind of detox plan.

Lifestyle and choices determine how well our body serves us. And we tend to throw a lot of crap at our bodies. So, give yourself the gift of a healthy life and do a colon cleanse. You'll feel better, look better and have more energy. It's a nice thank you to the only body you have!
