The Many Ways to Cure Cold

Colds attack people despite the different measures they take to stay healthy. So far, Antibiotics have not been helpful in treating viruses but there are available methods that can be used to reduce a cold.

Among the different means of treating colds is use of Echinacea although it is not the favored herb anymore for treating colds. Echinacea can be used to reduce symptoms of the conditions if taken when at the colds onset.

Latest findings in research do not prove that vitamin C, if taken in very large quantities can stem a cold. However if the patient takes in supplements of Vitamin C the colds duration will be reduced.

One should not be tempted to take Vitamin C in large quantities because it will go straight through their system. Elder berries feature among the most favored means of naturally healing colds. For generations, the berry has been used to cure colds and it is also known to contain influenzas growth.

Chicken soup has been known to ease symptoms associated with colds for many years and should be taken as soon as one starts exhibiting the symptoms. The chicken soup should also include onions, garlic, celery and leek. Garlic is helpful as it contains substances with the ability to boost the immune.

Latest research findings show that garlic can be able to reduce pain for the patient as well. One should always have ready chicken soup which they should keep frozen and ready for use when need arises.

Andrographis offer another option for preventing and reducing cold symptoms. Patients immunity is also stimulated by Andrographis. Among the qualities of this preventive agent is its ability to reduce fever without hurting the persons stomach.

Astragalus also offers another option and the the Chinese have been using it for many years. The herb is known to contain immunity building and pathogen fighting abilities. The patient can take the herd on a daily basis or as soon as they experience any symptoms.

If one wants to reduce a cold they can take supplements with then ability to stop virus growth when there is a cold outbreak. One should take supplements like Zinc of 50 to 100mg, L-lysine of 500 to1000mg (an amino acid) as well as antioxidants vitamins.

Stressful conditions should be avoided and one should get the necessary rest. Healthy eating is also vital when reducing a cold.
